Who we are

Lola (supportive but internet-unaware partner): Hasn’t quite worked out what or where she should be (from career choice to hair length to a near daily fluctuation between butch and femme stereotypes), but is generally finding it to be an inspiring and unexpectedly successful state of being. Lo’s mid-20s are full of the excitement and upheaval which might befit an earlier stage of life – but who would have thought a committed lesbian relationship, celebration of wedding vows and plans to start a family could be so much more contentious than any teenage rebellion?

Tallulah (chief blog writer and current star of this family show): Brings a hint of high femme glamour wherever she goes – from our little corner of suburban bliss to the stark corporate corridors to the unexpected intimacy of the infertility world. Ve has approached her late 20s with a fierce determination to defy caffeine, alcohol and heterosexual stereotypes in order to live out our own family life.

Dr Y & F: Sweeps into a room with a presence (and killer heels) rarely seen in our corner of the world, en route to masterminding fertility solutions for lesbians. Has been warmly supportive of our journey and as far as we can tell, a very good practitioner as well.

Buffy the Sperm Nurse: While many lesbians still hold a candle for Sarah Michelle Gellar, we have fallen for this middle-aged slayer of the sperm clinic. Buffy (short for Elizabeth) is a medic who surpasses anything seen on hospital dramas – the friendly face as we confront injections, ultrasounds, short-lived crises of confidence and 7am appointments.

DDX & DDY: Our known donors currently live far away from us and our friendship of three years. From the first tentative and slightly nervous conversations to the myriad donor appointments they have proved committed to enabling our parenthood in every way possible.
